WITH the onset of the new cricket season we recall the Lads Club team of 40 years ago who became champions of the Hereford and District League Division 2 and set up a new league record score of 356-4 against Herefordians along the way.
In that match, Bryan Robinson made 138 and his partner Hedley Lawson 72 in an opening stand of 150.
Nowadays Bryan is a well known county bowler at Hereford Bowling Club and Hedley plays skittles for reigning champions Evans S.C.
The team pictured above is (back l-r) Arthur Richards, Bernard Halfpenny, Bryan Robinson, Graham Smith, Hedley Lawson, Phil Donovan and Chris Davies with (front) Phil Daw, Mark Probert, Garth Lawson and Martin Palmer.
