A TEAM of NHS mental health campaigners will hit the streets of Worcestershire for an annual awareness week.
The Now We’re Talking campaign, which is run by Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust, raises awareness of Healthy Minds, a self-referral service which helps people aged 16 and over who are experiencing common mental health conditions such as stress, anxiety, low mood or depression.
As part of mental health awareness week (May 13-19), the campaign team will visit:
-Monday: The Gym Group in Kidderminster and Worcester Sixth Form College.
-Tuesday: Evesham College, the LifeStyle Deli in Kidderminster and Worcester police headquarters at Hindlip.
-Wednesday: Malvern College and a business networking event at Worcester Racecourse.
-Thursday: Railway workers from the Buckingham Group in Worcester.
The campaign will also be re-launching the Healthy Minds service website, publishing a new service prospectus highlighting the support the team can provide, and releasing a new promotional video featuring local people who have experienced the Healthy Minds service.
Dawn Stallard, team lead within Healthy Minds, said: “There are many situations in a person’s life which can lead to stress, anxiety, low mood or depression, and sometimes there are no obvious causes but asking the question and starting a conversation with someone can make a big difference.”
The Trust launched the Now We’re Talking campaign in October and has seen a significant rise in the number of people self-referring to the support. This can either be in groups, one-to-one counselling or online, and the team can also help you access community activities which might be more appropriate
You can self-refer without seeing a GP or another health professional first, simply call 0300 302 1313 or visit www.nowweretalking.nhs.uk
