RESIDENTS are being urged to donate just one pound to help a charity care for patients with life-limiting illnesses.

Pounds for Primrose is the newest campaign from Primrose Hospice encouraging everyone in the local community to give £1 (or more) to the local hospice.

A spokesman from the charity said: "Whether by holding a cake sale, wearing yellow for the day, or simply taking a collection can around the office, we want everyone to get involved and help us raise funds for Primrose from May 13 to Sunday, May 19.

"If everyone in Bromsgrove and Redditch gave just £1, this would raise over a phenomenal £180,000 for Primrose."

One of the businesses talking part is holistic health centre The Wishing Well which has set up a wishing tree.

Tricia Heatley, from the centre, said: "We are supporting Pounds for Primrose campaign encouraging everyone in the local community to give £1 to the charity.

"We have set up a wishing tree, a £1 a wish and tie a yellow ribbon to the tree. The tree will stay in situ throughout the year to raise funds for the local charity."

Primrose Hospice is an independent charity and relies heavily on support from the local community.

It has to raise more than £1.75 million each year to continue to provide services to care for patients and their families.
