A MAN was injured in an unprovoked assault in St John's.

The incident happened at around 4.30am last Sunday, May 5, as a man in his 20s was walking through St John's on the Bull Ring, near to the Co-op.

The victim is believed to have been assaulted by an unknown individual and suffered facial injuries, which are not life-threatening. He was taken to hospital but later released.

There are no descriptions of the offender at this time, but police say enquiries are ongoing and officers are keen for anyone who was in the area, who witnessed the assault or saw anyone acting suspiciously at the time to come forward.
