POLICE are issuing advice after an attempted phone scam in Stourport.
On May 3, scammers called a resident and pretended to be police, stating the victim's bank account had been breached. They told the resident they needed to withdraw all of their money without telling anyone to keep it safe.
The bank recognised the crime and police were informed before any money was lost.
Police are reminding residents not to open the door to unexpected visitors, to check ID thoroughly and contact police on 101 with any suspicions.
A spokesman for West Mercia Police said: "This type of crime has been increasing both nationally and locally over recent months.
"Always report to police if the crime is still happening, the suspect is in the local area, if you are vulnerable or you believe this is happening to a vulnerable neighbour."
