READERS of the Worcester News have spoken out against an “eyesore” rundown house in Ronkswood, but others have defended the homeowner.

Residents in Newtown Road are calling for action to be taken about the “dirty house” which they say is impacting their properties.

Some residents say they have been forced to cut back trees on the grounds of the property because they are infringing on their own premises, as well as deal with rats that have been spotted in the area.

Resident Brian Peplow said: “We call it the dirty house – it is a disgrace. It has always been neglected but has got worse in recent years. It has not been touched for decades.”

After reading the story, Susan Brennan posted on Facebook: “I have lived opposite this place for 26 years - I am afraid there is no excuse for the state of this house at all.

“My house is maintained along with others around here that have elderly people living in them.

“If I can up keep my home at 72 with osteoarthritis and diabetes then he can.”

But some readers defended the owner, understood to be Ken Miles, and offered him help. Scott Ward said: “If people have a real problem with it, do something about it. The guy probably can’t afford it or doesn’t know what to do.”

Patricia Weston said: “Knock on his door, you concerned neighbours, like we did years ago. Ask him if he needs help and, if he does, rally round like we did.”

Natalie Duce said: “It’s his choice. Why should he have to tidy it up?”

Zoe Albone added: “If they asked for help and kept on top of it, it wouldn’t be so bad.”

The Worcester News was unable to make contact with the owner of the house.
