MORE motorway misery may be on the way as M5 improvement work continues.

Work is being carried out to widen the Sixways roundabout, slip roads and all approaches - with an extra lane being added to the roundabout.

Traffic signals will also be put on the A449 and the A4538 Pershore Lane south approaches.

Highways England has announced what to expect, saying traffic management measures will be put in place between May 6 and May 19.

The traffic management in place includes: narrow lanes will be in place on the roundabout and all approaches, there will be a 50mph speed limit in place reducing down to 30mph, a barrier will be in place on the M5 and A4440 and A449 approaches.

And there could be lane closures between 9.30am and 3.30pm, with full closures and lane closures possible between 8pm and 6am.

So far what has been announced is: on May 6 there will be a partial closure between 10pm and 6am, and a full closure on the southbound entry slip between 8pm and 6am.

On May 8 there will be a full closure on the southbound entry slip between 8pm and 6am.

On May 9 lane one will be closed, leading to full closure of the northbound exit slip road, between 8pm and 6am.

During these times, diversions will be in place.

Highways England warn the planned road work is subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

A Highways England spokesman said: "We apologise for any disruption; please plan and allow extra time for your journey."

The programme was originally expected to be finished by the end of 2018, with Highways England saying it would benefit commuters in the long term.
