A MAN was stabbed repeatedly in the stomach in Stourbridge in a vicious early hours attack in the town at the weekend.

The victim was found in Coventry Street after the incident which happened between 3.15am and 3.45am on Saturday (April 27).

West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed two paramedic officers and two ambulances were sent to the scene to tend to the man "who had suffered serious injuries following an assault".

The spokesman added: "He was taken by ambulance on blue lights to hospital for further trauma care."

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "Following an incident earlier in the evening, a 42-year-old man confronted a group of men before he was stabbed several times in the stomach.

"He was taken to hospital to be treated for his injuries and has since been released."

An 18-year-old woman was also punched in the face during the disorder.

She suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital as a precaution.

Police say they are investigating the incident and that CCTV is currently being reviewed.
