REAL Madrid are hoping to find the next Gareth Bale this summer – in Lye.

Madrid – winners of the Champions League for the past three years – are running a training camp at Lye Town FC in July.

The Foundacion Real Madrid camp is one of 30 being run across Great Britain by the Spanish giants – and the pick of the young talent will be chosen to run out at the Bernabeu.

Lye chairman Brian Blakemore hopes the initiative will attract a few new faces, young and old, to the Midland Premier club.

He said: “I spotted that Real were looking to get more venues on board for their camps.

“They already do loads across Europe and have got a number in the UK too but they haven’t really got much in this area (the Midlands).

“So I got in touch with them and it went from there – now we have a formal agreement with them and there’s only other one team in the whole of the West Midlands that has that.

“The intention is, if it’s successful and we get enough numbers, to run more camps. We need 48 kids because it has to be worth Madrid’s while sending their coaches over here.

“There’s no real financial benefit for us – it’s more about raising the profile and awareness of the club.

“They do have a ranking system and the top players will have the opportunity to play at the Bernabeu.”

The camp is for boys and girls aged 7-16 and will run from July 22-26 – the first week of this year’s school summer holidays.

Coaches are approved by Madrid’s youth academy and they will lead six hours of training each day – 30 hours across the week.

The camp costs around £220 – 259 euros – for the week, which works out to approximately £44 per day. It is only bookable for the whole week, not per day.

Included in the price is lunch every day, a full Real Madrid kit, an Adidas ball and cinch bag.
