TOWN residents strongly supported the Evesham Dementia Action Alliance (EDAA) through Tesco's Bags Of Help scheme.

A £1,000 cheque was handed over by Tesco Community Champion Lindsay Roach to members of the group.

The funds will be used to continue to make Evesham more dementia friendly by providing information sessions for EDAA member organisations and members of the public.

EDAA chairman Hein van der Steen said: "The funds will be used to support projects set up by our members and also projects organised by the EDAA.

"For instance, people living with dementia, their carers and other interested groups are invited for refreshments and to listen to the ESO String Quartet on Friday, April 12, from 2pm-4pm, at Offenham Village Hall, free of charge."

The next ‘Knees-up’ at the Boathouse in Evesham will be on May 23, from, 2pm-4pm.

Mr Van der Steen said: "Most people know somebody living with dementia and are keen to make Evesham Dementia friendly.

"More can be done if more people join the EDAA as a volunteer."
