A FAMILY-owned building company has given a £1,500 boost to a Warwickshire project which aims to assist the protection of homes and businesses from flooding.

Cameron Homes has made the donation to the Shipston Area Flood Action Group.

The money will go towards a natural flood defence project designed to protect the village of Tredington, near Shipston on Stour, where Cameron is building 29 properties at its Orchards development.

Dani Gadsby, marketing executive of Cameron Homes, said: “As a company we are always keen to get involved in local schemes and to support communities where we can so we responded positively when approached about this very worthwhile project, donating £500 two years ago and now £1,500."

Len Grey, of the action group, said that they were working in a catchment area covering around 180sq km but Cameron’s contribution would be put towards a natural flood defence scheme in Tredington.

“The design of this intervention will also provide a natural habitat for birds and other wildlife, while preventing water from entering the river Stour for several hours during periods of heavy rainfall."
