Shipston Primary School has received a welcome boost following a donation of £500 from housebuilder Cala Homes to buy some new books.

The donation forms part of a larger project at the school in Station Road, which will see the library being refurbished with new books and seating areas for pupils to enjoy, plus outdoor reading spaces.

The school is raising funds for the project through activities including a summer fete, film shows, school discos and a Christmas Bake Off.

Christian Hilton, executive headteacher, said: “All the staff and pupils would like to say thank you to Cala Homes for their generous donation.

"Updating our library is a wonderful way for our pupils to enjoy some quiet time and get lost in a book. The children will benefit massively from the new books that we have been able to purchase and I can’t wait for them to be added to the shelves.”

The donation from Cala Homes, which has its Foxgloves development less than a mile away from the school, is part of the company’s commitment to support communities in which it builds.
