A CITY singer who became a viral sensation as 'Worcester's Pavarotti' last summer is set for his next bid at stardom with an appearance on a reality show tonight.

Luke Swatman left regulars at the Eagle Vaults pub, in Friar Street, Worcester, speechless after his rendition of Pavarotti's Nessun Dorma last June. Within hours a video of his pub karaoke appearance had gone viral, gaining national and international attention and later leading to an appearance on Good Morning Britain.

The 35-year-old has now been featuring on a trailer for the next episode of The Voice UK, which is set to be screened on ITV 1 at 8pm tonight.

The talent show is currently screening the blind auditions so the episode will reveal if any of the judges - Olly Murs, Jennifer Hudson, Tom Jones or Will.i.am, picked the Bromyard Road resident to join their team. If successful in the audition, Mr Swatman will need to progress through a battle phase, and knockout stage, to reach the live shows.

Mr Swatman was remaining tight-lipped ahead of the programme's screening, after being sworn to secrecy by ITV, only commenting to the Worcester News that "the story continues", and adding he was mentioned on Good Morning Britain on Friday morning.

And the amateur singer has retweeted a twitter post that said: "Can not wait for The Voice, a certain someone I know closely is on," with Mr Swatman writing "You never know who you’ll see on TheVoiceUK."

Mr Swatman started taking singing classes when he was six-years-old and had tuition for an hour a week until his early 20s. He then took some time off before resuming his lessons at the Elgar School of Music.

Mr Swatman, who works as a commercial controller, said last year about his ambitions: "Of course it is a childhood dream to take it on fulltime but you need a break and the type of money that you can support yourself.”
