Sir – Once again your letters page is filled with the ramblings of Messrs Taylor and Griffiths.

The hyperbole of the former, with his wild statements about anarchy and a nation irreparably damaged are utter nonsense.

He seems to believe that, as a result of the referendum we should simply leave the EU on any terms, or even no terms at all.

Is that not the way that leads to serious risk to our economy and aren’t we better trying to thrash out a deal that provides greater stability, even if that delays for a period a final break with the EU?

I accept that there are people who do not want us to leave but that’s not a reason to describe what they are doing as “treachery”. It’s just that sort of inflammatory language that encourages deep divisions rather than reasoned debate on what was always going to be a difficult issue.

As for Mr Griffiths, I’ve read his letter three times and still can’t make any sense of it. Any chance of plain English from him next time he puts pen to paper?
