A WOMAN whose dog was attacked by a neighbour’s husky has said she wants it put down as it is a danger to others.

Kirsty Kingston, 47, was arriving home from a walk with her two dogs as she noticed her neighbours’ dogs, which are two lurcher cross huskies, were on the loose.

“I didn’t have time to pick Gizzy up as one of the dogs came running over and grabbed her. It came out of nowhere,” Mrs Kingston said,

"I managed to pick up my other dog Maggie, who is only a pug, while Gizzy had virtually been held by the mouth.”

The owner of the husky said she had apologised to Mrs Kingston and agreed to pay the vet bills.

She added she had received the bill and will pay all the vet costs on December 15 to ensure Gizzy can receive adequate treatment.

The pet owner has begun taking her 11-month-old dog for obedient training to control its excitement.

Mrs Kingston, from Worcester, said: “I cannot believe a dog can almost kill mine and the dog has not been removed from the property. It is disgusting.

“I thought Gizzy was dead, she was just lay there.

“I want the dog put down. However, the police are telling me as it is a dog attacking another dog it will not happen.

“I do not understand why they cannot take the dogs off the owners. The dogs get out of their garden and roam around the streets and follow you. I have had to carry both my dogs before during a walk as they were close to me.

“You never know what these dogs will do - they are temperamental. It could be a child they attack next time.”

Mrs Kingston took Gizzy, who is a chihuahua cross miniature jack russell, to the vets immediately after the incident, which happened on November 30.

It has resulted in Gizzy breaking her pelvis in three parts, costing £350 in vet fees and a further operation which will cost £3,500.

Mrs Kingston added: “If she has the operation it may damage her bladder. She would never be able to walk again.

“I was unlucky and could not get Gizzy quick enough. Gizzy cannot walk anymore and she is bedridden.

“Someone needs to be with my dog 24 hours a day to look after her.

“She is in so much pain, I hate seeing her suffer like this. I cannot bare to even look at her.”
