LOYAL Fairfield Villa stalwart Charlie Harris has been honoured by the Worcestershire County FA following 50 years involvement with his beloved club.

Charlie has been a driving force with the Villa in every capacity from player, manager, chairman and treasurer.

Villa spokesman Paul Oakes paid tribute to Charlie on behalf of the club, he said: "Charlie is simply Mr Fairfield Villa.

"He's held every position and done everything at the club. He's still involved at 68 and it's no surprise to see him working on the pitch or operating the bar.

"He was a flying left winger in his playing days but had to pack up playing when 38 as injury cut short his career.

"But his involvement with Villa goes beyond the club itself. He has also been instrumental in getting the club involved with both the local community and school.

"He had been a wonderful ambassador for Fairfield villa over the years."

Charlie was presented with a commemorative medal by Worcester County FA official Colin Waldron at a special ceremony which took place at Worcestershire County Cricket club's New Road ground.
