A COUNCILLOR has called for action on a ‘dangerous’ road after a van crashed into a house.
The van smashed into a house in Bridge Street, near the Star Inn in Pershore, on Friday.
The vehicle hit the front of number 27 at around 5.30am, with the road closed as a result, causing traffic delays throughout the morning.
Cllr Val Wood said: “This accident illustrates the problems with speeding in Bridge Street, Pershore where both police and Worcestershire County Council highways say the average speed is no problem and the 20mph limit cannot or will not be enforced.
“Involvement with a campaign called Speedwatch, which has the support of many police authorities around the country, is not supported here but would certainly assist with the prevention of a similar accident, which next time could prove fatal, damaging not only a building but a resident or two.
“Please let’s have a rethink before someone gets hurt.”
Nobody from West Mercia Police was available to comment when asked by the Worcester News.
