A POPULAR nightclub in Malvern has been put up for sale with the intention of turning the site into housing and shops.

If Priors Croft was to close down, Malvern would be left without a nightclub.

The nightspot and restaurant in Grange Road is up for sale as a residential and retail development with estate agent Savills of Birmingham.

Priors Croft has been open for the last 12 years and is opposite Malvern Theatre, Priory Park and Malvern Priory in the centre of the town.

However, the club will not not close immediately and will remain open for business until the land is sold.

Jonathan Roe, from Priors Croft, said: “It has been decided to put the whole site of Priors Croft on the market.

“The location would be more appropriate for mixed use as a development of both retail and residential as it is a large site with off road parking.

“Priors Croft nightclub will continue to operate for the foreseeable future.”

The site in Grange Road extends to 0.38 acres and currently has planning permission for part-demolition of ancillary buildings, conversion of the existing manor house into three townhouses and the creation of a new dwelling.

Rachel Hull, associate director in the development team at Savills, said: “We are pleased to bring Priors Croft, which sits within a prime position in the centre of Great Malvern, to the market.

“Suitable for a number of uses, the site offers views to the Malvern Hills and Malvern Priory making it perfect for conversion to residential, but it also has off road parking, lending itself to a mixed use development made up of retail and residential.

“It will continue to operate as a late-night venue and bar until sold.”

The site, which is available on a freehold basis, is being offered for sale by informal tender with offers being sought on both an unconditional and a conditional basis.
