THE parents' association of a Malvern school is looking for support from the public to help fund an upgrade of its grounds.

St Joseph's RC Primary School in Newtown Road is looking for backing from the Aviva Community Fund 2018.

The Parents', Teachers' and Friends Association wants to create a sensory garden and a new sports field.

The Aviva fund, run by the well-known insurance company, selects its winning projects through a popular vote, so St Joseph's PTFA is urging supporters to cast their ballots for the school.

Association chairman Bridget Jeffries said: "Obtaining the votes will help our very small school to obtain the money that we need towards our £30,000 target to improve the school grounds.

"This money will not only help the children at our beautiful school right now - but also for pupils for many years to come.

“The PTFA is a great team of parents that work tirelessly towards fundraising every year. But this year our target is very large, so we are looking to the local community to help us achieve our goal of £30,000.”

"The school grounds have not been improved for many years and we believe that the outdoors is an amazing place to improve and enhance our children's learning."

The school has already raised £524.80 from its recent scarecrow-themed autumn fair.

And its has also linked up with the Co-op Community Fund via the store in Upper Howsell Road, where spending by loyalty card holders over the next year will produce funding for the school.
