WELLINGTON HEATH

THE Wellington Heath Neighbourhood Development Plan has been formally adopted by Herefordshire Council and now is part of the statutory development plan for Herefordshire and must be considered when deciding all parish planning applications. There has been no peace in the valley in recent mornings as promptly at 8am the clatter of machinery has echoed across the valley.

Fracking it is not, and so far no oil has been found. However there is a giant hole in the ground on the west side of the Ochre Hill ridge from which, eventually, a low-energy contemporary home is promising to emerge which will add to the rich variety of designs that are a feature of our village. Let us trust that the builders take care along Ochre Hill lane: It is, in fact, designated a footpath!

Talking about footpaths: Thanks to the FCC, otherwise known as the footpath clearing crew, who have been at work again. Their next expedition is scheduled for November 16. The coordinator is Marc on 635345.

Look out for the parish newsletter which will be landing on your mat from this weekend. The editor is always looking for articles to include in this quarterly magazine; email Marc at whparishnews@gmail.com if you have anything interesting to share with the parish, or just want to get something off your chest.

Don’t forget to put your clocks back before you go to bed this coming Saturday night. Summer time is over; it’s now winter time and the old codger reliably informs me that sunset on Sunday, October 28 will be at 4.48 pm, and the sun will not rise again until Monday at 6.59 am.
