Man arrested on suspicion of rape following police search
A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of rape following a police search in Redditch.
A number of police were spotted in Church Hill yesterday night combing the area.
A police helicopter was spotted around the area until around 8.30pm.
Detective Inspector Sarah Squires said that following the search a man in his 20s was arrested in the West Midlands Police force area.
"The man, from the Birmingham area, was arrested on suspicion of rape," she said.
"The victim is being supported by specially trained officers."
Increased patrols are now being carried out across the town to offer reassurance to the local community.
