A TWO-TIME Guinness World Record holder will help fundraisers to literally walk over hot coals in aid of St Michael's Hospice next month.
The firewalk takes place on November 10 at Hereford's Old Market and will see brave participants walk barefoot for five metres over burning embers reaching more than 600 degrees.
Scott Bell, who previously held the title for the greatest firewalking distance, will lead the walk.
He explained: "It’s a fun, exhilarating thing to do. Most people associate fire with pain, and so this is about overcoming that fear.
"You certainly don’t need drink or drugs to get the buzz you feel from firewalking."
Scott will provide the walkers with full training before they take on the firewalk.
He continued: "It’s a challenge but the great thing is that you don’t have to prepare for it in advance. Just listen to the safety briefing beforehand and you’re ready to go.
"People just love doing it."
Participants pay a registration fee and and are required to raise a minimum of £50 sponsorship for the hospice.
Paddy Nugent, the Hospice’s Community Fundraising Manager, added: "We’re very excited about bringing a firewalk to Hereford."
