RIVERSIDE House in Stourbridge has received a grant of £2,000 from the Postcode Lottery.

The project, which has been up and running for just over a year, aims to help young unemployed adults and young people gain practical and communication skills and develop self esteem through their involvement in rejuvenating the derelict 19th century former ironworks site which backs onto Stourbridge Canal.

Lloyd Stacey, director of Riverside House, said of the grant: “I was of course delighted to hear we had received the grant from the People’s Postcode Lottery. The money will go towards paths to improve accessibility.”

Stourbridge MP Margot James was also "delighted" to hear news of the funding boost for the project.

She said "It provides a wonderful environment for my constituents to engage in practical skills via the public park and heritage.

“It hosts a number of artistic events that engage the community, and social spaces for people to relax. The money will greatly benefit Riverside House and help them continue their excellent work.

“My thanks go to the players of People’s Postcode Lottery as this award will make a real difference to the local community in Stourbridge.”
