FOODIES are in for a treat at the Alcester Food Festival this Saturday.

There will be cheeses, pies, breads, fresh and cured meats, fruit and vegetables, a pig roast and plenty of award-winning street food.

Those with a sweet tooth can also enjoy cakes and handmade chocolates, while there will be refreshments including local beers, ciders and wines.

A spokesman said: "There is nothing we like better than putting out the bunting, closing the High Street to traffic and having a ball. And the Alcester Food Festival is the best excuse for a good day of fun that we have had for a while

"Local shops will be contributing; the cafes will be on the pavements, pubs will be thronged and our exhibitors will be giving it their all. And almost everything will be local."

The event takes place on Alcester High Street Saturday, October 20 from 9am to 5pm.
