THE Tour Series will return to Redditch on May 10 for the seventh year.

The popular cycle race will complete its second round in Worcestershire, which is now the longest serving area on the tour.

In 2017, the event contributed £350,000 to the local economy due to visitor spend and 21 per cent of visitors stayed overnight.

A total of 54 per cent of people were inspired by The Tour Series to cycle more often.

The event usually takes place from the afternoon into the evening, with activities for families throughout the town.

Councillor Ken Pollock, Cabinet Member with responsibility for Economy and Infrastructure said: "We are so pleased that The Tour Series is visiting the county for the seventh year.

"The event brings on average 15,000 visitors to the area and supports local businesses, resulting in a big boost for the local economy."

A launch event will take place in Redditch in the run up to the event, more details to come soon.

Businesses across Worcestershire are being given the unique opportunity to advertise at the event.

Last year's event attracted 15,000 spectators and reached 2.4m viewers on ITV4.

There is also a rare opportunity to get involved and have a go on the track.

Teams of four are invited to relay the track ahead of the pro race, with a place costing just £50 each.
