A huge fire is currently spreading across an industrial site in Kidderminster with reports of explosions from local residents.

Emergency services are currently at the scene tackling a huge blaze in the area of Park Street.

Fire crews were called to the scene at about 2.50pm.

Kidderminster fire police warning

Local police are urging people to avoid the area with a West Mercia Police spokesperson saying: "We are currently attending a fire in Park Street, Kidderminster.

"Please avoid the area while emergency services respond as there will be road closures in place."

Images shared on social media show thick black smoke bellowing from the site seen from miles away.

Wyre Forest MP Mark Garnier, whose constituency covers the town, said: "Frightening fire in Kidderminster. Hope everyone is safe and sound.

"Yet again, a huge thanks to all those in the emergency services keeping us safe."

Following the news Public Health England issued a warning to local residents.

It said: “Any #smoke can be an irritant. If people are outdoors near #Fire in #Kidderminster they should avoid/limit time spent in areas affected by smoke/ash Substances in smoke can worsen health problems like asthma &heart conditions so people should carry their medication if near.”

A local school issued a warning over “gridlocked” traffic as pupils finished school.
