BIRD lovers in Ludlow and south Shropshire have been doing their bit to help them survive the winter.
The county is home to a wide range of wild birds from larger birds of prey like the Buzzard and Red Kite to small garden birds. Buzzards and Red Kites can often be seen from the Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre in Craven Arms soaring over the hills.
Small birds are especially vulnerable to the cold when it is difficult to access natural food.
Birds also need to have regular access to water in order to keep feathers in good condition and can be in serious trouble when water freezes.
