NORMAN Wanstall in his letter of the January 20 is wrong to attack district councillors for not speaking out about possible traffic problems at the recent planning meeting.

They spoke about matters that concern them as district councillors.

Traffic and highways matters are for county councillors.

For the people of Tenbury who still want a Tesco Supermarket all is not lost. Tesco may win an appeal but also as a result of the Localism Bill currently passing through parliament when that becomes law local communities will have greater influence over developments in their towns and villages. Proving a group, by referendum or other means, can show that over 50 per cent of residents want or do not want something the local authority will have to agree.

ALEC WALL,

Oak Bridge Court Tenbury Wells.
