THROUGH the columns of your newspaper, I would like to draw the attention of members of the public to issues concerning excessive traffic speeding.
I am a member of Burford parish council and we have had great concern expressed to us by members of the public over this issue.
The area of concern is the A456 as it passes along Burford.
It would appear that the speed limits of 30, 40 and 50 mph are frequently flouted, and outside the areas even more excessive speed is used. Residents along the road fear it will only be a matter of time before someone is seriously injured or killed.
Shropshire Council member, Cllr Richard Huffer has taken this up with various people in the local authority, but as yet despite all his efforts nothing practical seems to be happening.
It seems to indicate that the fitting of speed cameras is desirable or at various times, the police should attend to enforce these speed limits.
There are serious safety issues here.
If anyone has had reason to feel the same way as myself, perhaps you should let me know and also express your feelings to the local authority.
