THE new chairman of the NSA Wales and Border Ram Sales is noted Leominster breeder John Owens.
Mr Owens, who farms with his family at Woodhouse Farm, breeds Suffolks, Texels and Beltex cross breeds.
He feels the sheep trade has a good future and is proud to have been appointed to the new role.
“As the third chairman of Wales and Border ram sale committee, I feel very honoured to be following in the footsteps of Gwynne Davies and the late George Hughes MBE,” he said.
“As a committee we will work to overcome the problems caused by ever-changing rules, regulations and rising costs, in order to provide purchasers with the opportunity to compare, select and purchase the rams of their choice.
“Our sale allows both purchasers and vendors to have the sheep valued by live auction.”
McCartneys’ former chairman, Richard Gwilliam, is the new vice-chairman of the group.
He is a long-standing member of the committee and lives in Pembridge.
