A TALK on the Three Wise Men in art will take place at Ludlow St Laurence Church.

Starting at 7.30pm on January 15, the one-hour talk is titled On the Road with the Three Kings.

A spokesman for the organisers said: "Palmers, a mediaeval term for pilgrims and pilgrimage, were an important part of the Middle Ages, but it also strikes a responsive chord in our modern, ever-changing world.

"A number of outstanding speakers have been invited to examine aspects of mediaeval and modern pilgrims and pilgrimages. They will cover art, well-being, music and sacred places and spaces.

"Dr Christopher Herbert, a guest lecturer in art history at London's National Gallery and the Courtauld Institute, explores the value of modern pilgrimage by looking at the journey of the Three Kings through paintings over the past 1700 years."

The event is part of the 2018 Ludlow Palmers' Pilgrims and Pilgrimages lecture series. Tickets cost £8 and are available from the Ludlow Assembly Rooms, on 01584 873229. The Ludlow Palmers raise money for the Conservation Trust for St Laurence, Ludlow.
