LUDLOW Cancer Support Group is holding a Macmillan Coffee Morning in St Peter's Church, Henley Road, Ludlow, tomorrow from 11am to 12.30pm. Admission is £3, to include coffee and cake, and all proceeds from the entrance money and a raffle will go to Macmillan Cancer Support.

"Ludlow Cancer Support Group has some very special members", said chairman, Rosemary Wood. "Dave Bissell lives at Whitefriars, just across the road from St Peter's Church. Since he joined the Group, Dave has raised hundreds of pounds for us, through collecting and selling bric a brac and pickling onions, beetroot and red cabbage. The bric a brac stall at the Macmillan Coffee morning tomorrow will be his last one, and we have decided to put the money received via this towards another member's special event".

On October 7, Rob Downes will be celebrating his 60th birthday in a very distinctive way. He has hired the schoolroom in Ludlow's Methodist Church in Broad Street, and will be inviting friends and family to bring a cake and buy a cup of coffee from 10am to 4pm. All monies received will be divided between Severn Hospice and the Lingen Davies Cancer Fund.

Rob was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2014. Today, he is in remission, but would like to show his gratitude for the care, concern and complementary therapies received during the last three difficult years from Severn Hospice, the Hamar Help and Support Centre and Lingen Davies at Shrewsbury Hospital.

Please support the coffee morning and bring along any unwanted presents, books or toiletries to supplement Dave's bric a brac stall and increase Rob's gift to Severn Hospice, the Hamar Help and Support Centre and Lingen Davies.

And don't forget to join Rob for his birthday celebrations in Ludlow's Methodist Church from 10am to 4pm on October 7.
