A CRAVEN Arms media company has launched what it says is a first for video technology in the UK.

Igloo Vision, has unveiled a 360- degree media test and play-back centre which it has described as a major step forward in the development of some innovative technology.

Igloo Vision was founded by three technologists based in south Shropshire and has been subsequently supported by private investors.

Technology and prototyping grants have been awarded from various government and regional agencies despite the reduced levels of cash available for this type of business support, given the current financial climate.

Since the launch of the company, contracts have been awarded from multinational companies such as Sky, Bethesda Softworks, and Toyota.

And the 360-degree technology is now attracting interest from American entertainment corporations and has featured on Channel Five's Gadget Show.

Igloo is also working in cooperation with Lindstrand Technology to provide online digital media bill boards on the Lindstrand 11-metre High Flyer promotional balloon products.

And with many of the world’s leading projection companies following its progress, Igloo was able to obtain the advanced hardware technology to create a major 360 degree 3D public event in support of the Smirnoff brand.

The firm is now looking to take on fresh talent in the shape of young graduate multimedia software developers to enable its expansion and to ensure its current technological lead is maintained.
