A CONMAN made off on a high value mountain bike while test riding it at a Ludlow cycle shop.

The thief asked if he could try out the Devinci Wilson bike, valued out £3,295, at Pearce Cycles in Fishmore Road on Saturday afternoon.

He left some car keys as "insurance" but rode out of the main entrance and was seen meeting up with a green van on the man road.

The keys turned out to be random.

The thief is described as being white, in his mid to late 30s, about 5ft 10ins tall, with short gelled dark brown hair and a tanned complexion.

He was wearing smart jeans with a cotton blue and white striped shirt and brown shoes.

The bike was dark charcoal grey with white parts and was taken between 4pm and 4.30pm.

Anyone with information can call PC Richard Jones at Ludlow police station on 101.
