LUDLOW Food Centre and the town’s Michelin-starred La Becasse Restaurant have teamed up to offer local foodies the opportunity to learn and understand more about cooking seasonal food.

Head chef Will Holland and the Food Centre’s marketing manager Tom Hunt have organised an exclusive cooking demonstration for 60 local people.

The aim of the event is to educate people on how to use local, seasonal produce inventively and make the most of the abundant produce from this region.

Mr Holland said: “There is so much local produce from the fields of Shropshire that people don’t utilise...the aim of this cooking demonstration is to show how this produce can be used in a variety of seriously tasty dishes.”

The event, which is being held in the Food Centre’s Windsor Room above the shop, will showcase estate-reared lamb from the Earl of Plymouth’s Estate, which surrounds the centre.

Mr Hunt said: ‘At the centre, we have a commitment and a passion to source our food locally.

“If we can’t rear it or grow it on our own estate, we buy it from other local farmers and producers.

“More than 80 per cent of the food we sell is from Shropshire and the surrounding counties of Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Powys.’ The event will start at noon on Saturday and tickets are £10. All of the recipes and produce will be available on the day from the centre so guests can try their hand at making some of the dishes.

Mr Hunt added: “Working with Will is fantastic because people will see how much can be done with the produce and we both hope that this leads to further events in the future.”
