RSPB - The April meeting of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds at the Discovery Centre was an extra special one, with the speaker Colin Wright giving members and visitors a very good insight into what life is like in the Falkland Islands. He touched on the seven hour journey there by plane (refuelling at the Ascension Islands) and the wildlife, including the interesting and charming assortment of birds, animals and fauna. The talk was illustrated by excellent slide photographs, which were very much appreciated by the audience. During the interval, tea and cakes were served and there was a raffle. This event was the last meeting until September.

SKIP AMENITY – The popular monthly car park skip facility has unfortunately now been suddenly axed, in spite of representations being made to save it.

TOWN COUNCIL – The next meeting of Craven Arms Town Council is at Craven Arms Community Centre on Tuesday at 7.30pm. The first 15 minutes will be reserved for qustions/comments from the public.

BROWNIES – Seven to nine-year- old girls interested in games, creative activities, challenges, outdoor adventure, cooking, making friends and having fun are urged to consider joining the 1st Craven Arms Brownies, who meet on Wednesdays at the Craven Arms Community Centre from 5pm to 6.20pm during term time. Brown Owl Gila Taylor on 01588 674918 will be pleased to hear from the parents of any prospective Brownies. There is also a place with the Rainbows for children aged five to six, and Guides for girls aged 10 or over. SATURDAY MARKET – From 9am to 3pm in the Methodist Hall on Saturdays, this market gives you the opportunity to browse among all kinds of goods for sale.

SLEEPING BEAUTY – Corvedale Entertainment Society will present Sleeping Beauty at 7pm for 7.30pm tomorrow (Friday) and Saturday at Diddlebury Village Hall. There will be a raffle and refreshments.
