MAX Beswick is preparing to bang the drum for the Tenbury Town Band.

Max, aged 17, is planning a sponsored drum roll later this month that will help to pay for new instruments for the 40- strong band.

Max has been with the band since the age of six and loves music as a hobby rather than a profession. Later this year, his music will take him to China with one of the other Worcestershire bands with which he is involved.

Tenbury has an active band that plays regularly at events in the area, including the various civic ceremonies. However, many of the instruments are showing their age and need replacement.

“Playing with the band is an excellent way for young people to get involved in music and gives them a chance to try instruments that they would not otherwise be able to afford,” said Max.

He plans to do the drum roll in the town centre for at least an hour. There will be buckets into which passers-by can toss money and sponsorship forms are also available from the band and shops in the town.
