Ludlow Town 0 Bewdley Town 6.

LUDLOW met title-chasing Bewdley Town on their artificial pitch at the SBS Stadium and were made to look very ordinary by one of the best footballing sides in the Premier Division of the FTL Futbol West Midlands (Regional) League.

The visitors caught the home side cold at the start of the game to gain an early advantage, then withstood a spirited response from Ludlow before taking control in the second half to run out easy winners at the final whistle.

Disrupted by holiday commitments and suspensions, the young Ludlow side made the worst possible start, conceding two goals within five minutes of the kick-off. Slack marking played a part in both and left Town facing an uphill battle for the rest of the game.

They produced a spirited response but were further hampered when Alex Bentley, making his debut in place of the suspended Luke Hicks at the heart of the defence, was forced off with suspected fractured ribs and had to be substituted.

They battled on gamely, but never posed much of a threat to the well-drilled Bewdley defence. Bewdley scored a third goal to hold a comfortable lead at the break.

The second half was one-sided and, with goalkeeper Anthony Prince looking shaky at times, the visitors went on to double their score and finished up in total control.

Manager Chris Richards said that he could not fault the effort and commitment of his players, but the gulf in ability and class between the two sides was reflected both in the final score and the positions of the two sides in the table.
