THESE pictures of Ludlow butchers show how, while some things remain the same, others change dramatically.
A butcher has traded from this High Street location since the early part of the 20th century and the picture above shows Carpenter Butchers around the 1920s, with its meat on display outside.
The picture to the right shows the premises today, when it is the highly respected butcher’s D W Wall and Son. Such quality local businesses have played their part in establishing Ludlow’s reputation as a gourmet’s heaven.
Pictured is employee Simon Evans with one of a range of the Downton Estate pheasants, which are on sale at the shop.
