Shropshire has plenty of exciting events to take part in as the summer months draw to a close.
A food festival, a beer festival and a castle trail marathon are some of the events on offer.
Here are four events taking place in Shropshire in September.
Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Festival
Location: Ironbridge Gorge
Date: 19 September
This community-led festival celebrates the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution with markets, heritage activities and family-friendly events.
Visitors can expect craft stalls, historical re-enactments, guided walks and live music, while exploring the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Ginger and Spice Festival
Location: Market Drayton town centre
Date: 26 September
Market Drayton’s festival celebrates its culinary history as the birthplace of gingerbread.
The event features spiced treats, cooking demonstrations, historical presentations, gingerbread challenges, artisan chutneys, hot sauces and family activities.
UTBC Bishop’s Castle Trail Marathon
Location: Shropshire Hills around Bishop’s Castle
Date: 26 September
This trail marathon takes runners through ancient woodlands, open moorland and historic landmarks.
Entry is £45, with aid stations and local support available along the challenging course.

Shropshire Oktoberfest
Location: Quarry Park, Shrewsbury
Dates: 30 September–1 October
Independent brewers from across the region will gather for two days of live music, German-inspired food and local ales, lagers and speciality brews.
Visitors can also enjoy fairground rides and street food, with lederhosen encouraged.
