Shropshire Council has set out how it will plan, buy and manage goods, works and services over the next three years.

A newly approved commissioning, procurement, and contract management (CPCM) strategy is intended to improve decision-making around purchasing and contract delivery.

The strategy is designed to ensure public money is spent effectively and that services deliver strong results for residents.

Roger Evans, Shropshire Council’s cabinet member for finance, said: "This strategy is about making sure we spend public money in the best possible way, while also delivering real benefits for the people and communities of Shropshire.

"It gives us a clear and consistent approach to commissioning, procurement and contract management, helping us secure better outcomes, stronger value for money and more effective services."

The CPCM strategy places emphasis on understanding local needs, using evidence to guide decisions, and working collaboratively with partners.

It also highlights the importance of social value—taking into account broader benefits such as job creation, environmental impact, and support for small businesses and community organisations.

The full strategy is available on the Shropshire Council website.
