A KEY road that spans the Shropshire and Herefordshire border has now closed for up to a month, with an hour-long diversion in place.

The full road closure on the A4113 Leintwardine to Ludlow road came into force from 10am on February 23.

Herefordshire Council said the road will be closed all day and night while works are taking place on the stretch.

A lengthy diversion route is in place for the duration of the works, with traffic diverted via the A4110, A44, A49 and A4113.

The full diversion route extends to 37 miles, adding just over an hour to journeys if followed, however smaller local routes are available.

The repairs will take up to four weeks for what Highways explain is structural gabion repairs after a landslip.

They added: "We’ll maintain property access where safe; delays possible. A signed diversion route will be in place."
