A council is preparing to submit an expression of interest for a £20 million grant to help drive economic growth.
Shropshire Council is preparing to submit an expression of interest as part of the Marches to the Midlands project, which aims to attract investment and create jobs across the region.
The funding would come from the Local Innovation Partnership Fund, a UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) scheme designed to support innovation-led growth across the UK.
Rob Wilson, Shropshire Council's cabinet member for economic growth, said: "This strategic approach will not only boost local jobs and skills but also ensure Shropshire remains competitive in the transition to a low-carbon economy.
"By pooling expertise and resources, the partnerships will accelerate progress on renewable energy projects and advanced manufacturing capabilities, helping the county secure long-term prosperity."
The bid focuses on forming specialist clusters in green energy and advanced manufacturing, including agri-tech.
These clusters are part of a wider strategy to attract investors and raise the profile of Shropshire as a centre for innovation.
