Victor Morris picked up the Tom Gittins Cup as Bishops Castle Auction Mart enjoyed a successful trade day.
The cup is awarded annually, and Mr Morris, of S.J.C. Morris & Sons, Clun, won it for his outstanding pen of Limousin steers.
These were part of a keenly contested show judged by Hazel Coles from Somerset.
Auctioneer James F. Evans, a director of Halls, said: "Once again, the show and sale demonstrated Bishops Castle’s reputation as one of the country’s leading centres for quality store cattle.
"There was strong demand, competitive bidding, and a buoyant trade throughout the sale as buyers were out in force, reflecting the continued confidence in the store cattle sector.
"Premium prices were achieved across all classes—a credit to the high standard of stock consistently presented by our loyal vendors."
The sale saw 184 steers, 172 heifers, and five bulls changing hands, with averages of £2,076, £1,952, and £2,138, respectively.
The top price for a steer was £2,620 for British Blues from C.J. Collins, Worcestershire.
J.A.Wood & Sons, Ratlinghope, achieved the highest heifer price of £2,780 and 712 per kilo with British Blues.
In the bulls section, Limousins averaged £2,138, with a top price of £2,410 from D.E. & R.M. Williams, Llansilin.
Bishops Castle Auction Mart will host the Bishops Castle & District Quality Cattle Association sale of suckled calves on Thursday, October 23.
