Former J Mart store in Craven Arms set to be auctioned off

The J Mart premises on Ludlow Road, Craven Arms, will go under the hammer at Bond Wolfe’s auction on Thursday, September 11.

The property has a guide price of £275,000.

James Mattin, managing director and auctioneer at Bond Wolfe, said: "These freehold retail/warehouse premises were previously on the market with another auctioneer in November with a guide price of £395,000.

"We are confident that, with the attractive price we have set, property investors, retailers, and developers alike will find this lot of considerable interest when it comes up for sale in our livestreamed auction."

The J Mart store, which sells a range of homeware, DIY, and garden goods, comprises a detached building on a rectangular plot, extending to almost a third of an acre.

Mr Mattin said: "There is the potential for alternative use of these premises, subject to securing the necessary planning consents."

The site, which provides parking for around 14 vehicles, is enclosed by fencing and double gates to the roadside boundary.

It sits on the western side of the A49 trunk road, close to the centre of Craven Arms, and is surrounded by a veterinary practice, residential premises, and Craven Arms Bowling Club.

Shrewsbury is approximately 20 miles to the north and Hereford just over 30 miles to the south, with Leominster and Ludlow in between.

The former J Mart store will be among 207 lots in Bond Wolfe’s next auction.

The auction will be livestreamed via Bond Wolfe’s website with remote bidding by proxy, telephone or internet.
