A MAJOR project has been completed after plenty of work in Tenbury.
The stepless entrance to St Michaels Church is now complete, making the stunning venue much more accessible to all visitors.
The project has taken longer than initially expected, with planning permission granted for the installation of an external ramp and new path access in 2019.
The permission was granted with conditions including requirements for archaeological investigation works before work could commence.
Work eventually started in 2023, after funding was achieved, but had to be put on hold due to an oversight regarding archaeology
But, after further work in the background, those behind the project were able to restart work earlier this year.
The news means that all the artists coming to this Saturday’s concert have easier access when carrying musical instruments if they choose to take this new disabled access route off the College Drive.
As well as a non-slip surface the gently sloping ramp has a handrail and automatic lighting for the darker evenings.
Music Nouveau, now in its ninth year, is part of the St Michaels music and events programme, headed up by Andy Cook who, together with Jack Brett form the well known duo Red Madog.
The upcoming Music Nouveau promises the audience a great night with talented musicians.
Talent on show will include Alfie Gidley, who plays guitar and violin, and has even made one himself. He is sometimes joined by Mr Cook's son on cello.
There will also be a new composition being premiered on the night, featuring local pianist Jan Holloway.
The event features new and original music of various genres, all of which gain from the church’s superb acoustics. This ticketed event kicks off at 7.30pm on Saturday, September 21.
Mr Cook is currently also working on another ambitious project, An Evening at Hogwarts, the wizarding school brought to life by Harry Potter author JK Rowling in her popular series, which will be taking place in the church on November 2.
The spectacular show will see the nave become the Hogwarts refectory, where there will be a reunion with food together with themed entertainment and music.
Tickets are selling fast for the event where “light conquers darkness and evil is defeated”.
