The Friends of Ludlow Library is a voluntary group that encourages local people and clubs to use the library building.
The group also provides additional financial support to the library service through its fundraising activities.
They have been able to purchase books (from the local independent book shop) written by local authors thanks to the sale of donated books, provided board games and jigsaws, and contributed towards new shelving and other capital resources.
During the school holidays, the Friends provide craft materials and enable a programme of free activities for families.
The group also hosts monthly Learning At Lunchtime sessions and, over the years, have organised a wide variety of free 50-minute talks by local historians, town guides, authors, artists, musicians and small businesses who have generously given their time to inform and inspire those who attend. (The presentations are free but a donation box is available).
The next Learning at Lunchtime session will be on Wednesday, October 9 at 1pm at Ludlow Library when there will be an informative and lively talk by Andrew Whittle BA, principal of Greens Solicitors on "Where there's a Will – the importance of documenting our wishes in the event of ill health and death.
