A THIEF stole meat and alcohol from a Ludlow supermarket.
Leon Preece entered a guilty plea to one count of theft from a shop when he appeared before magistrates in Telford in March.
The court heard the 39-year-old had stolen three bottles of wine and an unknown number of steaks, worth a total of £30, from Ludlow’s Rocks Green Sainsbury’s supermarket on September 4 last year.
This is an offence under sections one and seven of the Theft Act 1968.
Preece, of Morgan Close, Ludlow, was fined £80 and ordered to pay compensation of £30 and costs of £135.
His guilty plea was taken into account by magistrates when they decided on the penalty and imposed the sentence.
He was convicted on March 19.
Ludlow’s Sainsbury’s first opened its doors in 2021, and was notable as the most energy efficient supermarket the chain had opened to date.
It has a fresh food market, an in-store bakery and more.
