THE flag is being flown at half mast in Ludlow in tribute to a councillor after his sudden death.

Ludlow Town Council said it was deeply saddened by the news that Councillor Sean O'Neill passed away suddenly on Tuesday, February, 6.

"Councillor O'Neill was a valued member of the town council since joining in June 2017," a spokesperson for the council said.

"During his two terms in office, he played an active part in the town’s civic life."

Coun O'Neill held the post of vice chair of the council's policy and finance committee, and supported the work of the representational committee, services committee, and the climate action sub-committee.

His commitment to the Council did not waiver during recent periods of ill-health

Mayor of Ludlow, Coun Glenn Ginger said: "The whole council is deeply saddened by the passing of Councillor O’Neill.

"Sean was a great supporter of the Mayor’s Charity events. He selflessly gave his time to organise excellent pub quizzes. I and other Mayors are very grateful to him for his support."

Ludlow Town Council will honour the service of Councillor O'Neill over the coming days, the council spokesperson said.

The town flag will be flown at half-mast and councillors will do all they can to support his family at this difficult time.
