A VAN driver has been fined by magistrates after he was caught speeding in Ludlow.

Robert Wall entered a guilty plea to one count of exceeding a 30 miles per hour speed limit to magistrates in Worcester in January.

The court heard from the prosecutor that the 65-year-old, who was not present at the hearing, had been caught breaking the limit while behind the wheel of a Ford Transit van in a 30 miles per hour zone in Ludlow's Overton Road on May 25.

He had been clocked speeding by manned camera equipment, the court heard.

Wall, of Knights Way, Ludlow, was fined £85 and received three penalty points for the offence, with magistrates saying that they had taken his guilty plea to the charge into account when coming to their decision.

He was also ordered to pay a £34 victim surcharge, which is used to help fund services supporting victims of crime, but no prosecution costs were ordered to be paid.
